snorkelling at champagne soufriere sulphur springs

Couple snorkelling at Champagne Beach with our Soufriere Sulphur Springs for divine day in Dominica’s mineral waters.

Encounter explosions of colour while snorkelling in the warm waters.  The reef is home to a rainbow of sponges, and also greeting you are water lilies or crinoids.  A fascinating range of seahorses, turtles, octopus, parrotfish, batfish, eels and other sea life call Champagne home. These marine creatures attach to the coral and sponges, creating delicate tubular colourful wands, all are very hypnotizing beauty.

We drive from the Champagne back to Soufriere to experience the Sulphur Springs.  From the visitor center it is only a 15 minute moderate hike from the van to the Sulphur Springs.   Two main springs are the source at this beloved eco tourism site.  First is the crystal-clear Glo Gayak (some locals drink from this spring in small amounts as a cleanser).  Then there is Glo Cho which is popular for warm baths.  It is the water in Glo Cho which was diverted into the four manmade pools.

At the end of the day, we will drive to CarRod’s Gardens for a garden walk and fruit tasting.

This tour is readily available for cruise passengers.  Guests can also book as part of their stay at the Retreat
